We would all like to say hello to the students who have left us recently and hope that you have taken good memories of your time here at school away with you.
Examination Class
We are happy to announce that we had a 100% pass rate from the First Certificate class. When the results arrived, we were all delighted. Congratulations to the students who worked very hard and thank you to Janice and Michael for all their hard work too.
Story Writing Competition
Students had to write a traditional story from their country for this competition. It was difficult deciding which story was the winner (I am glad that I didn’t have to make the choice!). The winners received Borders vouchers. Congratulations to Ai Japan, Klaudia from Germany and Bruno from Italy. The stories will soon be in the library at school to read.
Excursions and trips
It is now light until early evening and the weather is warm (sometimes). We visited The New Forest which is a great place to go in the evening to see the ponies and wildlife. We also combined this with a visit to a couple of traditional English pubs. We are planning to go bowling – this is always a good evening. On May 13th RELSA is holding a fancy dress ball which should be great fun. There are prizes for the best costume.
Excursions are planned to the major cities – London, Bath and Oxford. If anybody would like to visit Windsor, where Princes Charles recently married Camilla, this can be organised. The castle is fantastic and the shops are great.
Hop back and Ringwood Breweries
In recent months we have been fortunate enough to have two brewery visits. Both were very popular with the students who are now all experts on English beer and how to make it.
Japanese evenings
We have had two Japanese evenings – both of which were very interesting. The students and teachers really enjoyed the hard work the students put into these. It is really interesting learning about other countries and especially tasting the food. Origami looks easy but it isn’t!
Forthcoming Events
There is a RELSA football competition on May 20th. We have entered for this and hopefully, with a bit of training, can beat the other schools.
Staff
We would like to welcome Jackson Hargreaves to the staff as a teacher and sports and social organiser – read more about him in the staff section. We are very sorry that Janice is leaving to take up a new post working with autistic children. Janice will be sadly missed by staff and students - we wish her all the best in her new job.
We had a staff photo taken. Not everyone was able to be there – next time they might be!
