Beechwood College - Tunbridge Wells

Location

Beechwood Sacred Heart College is situated about 60km south of London. The college is set in the extensive grounds of a purpose-built Victorian mansion house and is just 1km from the centre of Royal Tunbridge Wells.

The college has excellent facilities, including an outdoor swimming pool, 5 tennis courts, 2 sports halls, playing fields, video rooms and full computer access for lessons.

Accommodation

Residential accommodation - bright and comfortable shared rooms/dormitories with 1-6 students per room. Shower rooms are available on each corridor with boys and girls accommodated in separate areas of the school. Students are supervised by our residential staff.

All meals are taken in the school cafeteria except when there is a full-day excursion and packed lunches are provided by the school. Weekly laundry is also included.

Getting here

There is easy access to all of our summer centres from Gatwick, Heathrow, Southampton and Bournemouth airports by train, bus or taxi.

On request, we can arrange a personal welcome and taxi transfer to and from all London and local airports. Our main school office can also advise on train and bus services to our centres.

Sports

The following sports are available at Beechwood School:
Tennis, Table Tennis, Swimming, Badminton, Volley Ball, Rounders, Cricket, Football, Basket Ball, Croquet, Athletics

Small groups of students can be taken together to other sporting activities on an optional basis where they will need to pay an entrance/users fee:
Ice skating, Bowling, Golf, Horse riding *, Indoor swimming, Water chutes

Similarly, for those who are not of a ‘sporting’ nature, and who wish to go on other visits in addition to those planned, but again paying an entrance charge, the following are available:
Canal cruise, Mill visit, Farm visit, Baronial Hall visit, Art Gallery, Brass rubbing, Cathedral visit, Park & Boating

Charges range from £2.00 to £5.00 with the exception of *horse riding (approx £15.00 per hour)

All optional activities are accompanied by a member of staff and transport is provided.

Timetable

A period of one hour is set aside for homework ‘prep’ immediately after dinner from 19.00 – 20.00.

There are 2 card-operated cabins that can be used by students at any time during breaks.

Following allocation of a room, students must leave their passport, ticket and money with the Course Director. We take no responsibility for the loss of cameras and mobile phones. Provided these are named, they can also be left with the Course Director.

A laundry service is provided once a week, free of charge, but this does not cover heavy items and jackets/blousons.
